This week work will be taking place to surface the old section of Littlemoor Road near St Andrew’s Primary School and finish the pedestrian crossing tables.
The work is being carried out during half term to minimise disruption to the school.
There will be short periods of time this week where traffic control is required on Littlemoor Road to complete road lining.
Work is now nearing completion on Littlemoor Road.

Why are there no white line markings at the junction of Louviers Rd and Littlemoor Rd? Everything else seems to be finished.

Hi David,
The line painting team are on site this week to complete the remaining road markings. This work is however weather dependant so will be completed as soon as possible.

This is indeed great news that the Littlemoor Road is nearing completion. Does this now mean work will start on the ‘old’ Dorchester road?
We were led to believe that in the latter part of this year we would have some idea of the traffic calming measures that would be used (and not before time!) but I have seen nothing mentioned.
Can something be done along the old road soon? PLEASE!

Hi Geoff,
The environmental improvement plans for Dorchester Road – which aim to enhance the landscape and promote a calm street scene – are currently being revised following consultation with local residents at the end of last year.
On-street parking, pedestrian facilities, a cycleway and a review of current road markings are being looked at as part of the scheme.
Our scheme engineers are currently looking at the whole length of Dorchester Road to identify areas for improvements.
Further public exhibitions will be held to hear what residents think, later this year/early next year, when the new proposals have been finalised.

Just wondering why there is a very wide and seemingly crazy shaped new cycle/pedestrian path alongside the now very quiet old Littlemoor Road which will in any case carry very little traffic? Surely a decent walkway on the north residential side of this road would have been good enough. The quiet road carriageway serves very well as a safe cycleway.

Hi Peter,
The new shared path and cycleway along the northern side of the old Littlemoor road is typically just 2m wide. This path links to the bus stops on the new road and crossing points to the north side of the new road.
