This week has seen the completion of work on Littlemoor Road.
Thank you for the patience during the works.
Over the next few months we will be carrying out remedial works and completing fencing and landscaping across the scheme.

Fnished….. really? When will the line painting be completed, the cones removed from the cycle paths etc, the 40mph limit introduced??

Hi Steve,
The line painting team are on site this week to complete the remaining road markings. This work is however weather dependant so will be completed as soon as possible.
The signs at the junction are wrong and will be removed shortly. Originally the speed limit along Littlemoor Road was to have been 40mph to just east of Louviers Road which would have required the signs on Louviers Rd. However it was decided that it would be more appropriate to make the change just west of the junction making the signs on Louviers Rd redundant.
Over the next few months we will be carrying out remedial works and completing fencing and landscaping across the scheme.

Another week on and the line painting is still not finished. There are several arrows still missing and, I think, some centre hatching.
When is the 40mph speed limit being introduced?
And why was the completion of works announced when it was so obviously not true?

Hi Richard,
The line painting is weather dependant and was unable to be completed last week. The lining team will be on site next week to complete the remaining works.
The speed limit signs at the Louviers Road junction are wrong and will be removed. This should be rectified next week.
The works are substantially complete and the road is free from hold ups from traffic management and large construction activities. We appreciate there are still some areas of work to finish, and also remedial works and landscaping to complete.

I think that a mistake has been made on the signage at the junction of Littlemoor Rd and Louviers Rd (Preston end). Just before you exit Louviers Rd a sign indicates that the driver is entering a 40mph speed restricted area when in fact it is still a 30mph area. If the driver turns right, to travel towards Preston, he will be breaking the law for quite some time (until he reaches White Horse Hill or Preston Beach Rd). If they turn left they will be breaking the law for a short time until they reach the new 40 mph sign on Littlemoor Rd.

Well the wrong sign has been up for a few days now, let’s hope that no one attending the two schools, or one of the lollipop ladies, gets knocked down by a 40 mph vehicle!

Hi Paul,
I have raised the incorrect signage with the scheme engineers to ensure it is rectified as soon as possible.

How about bending to public opinion and putting the pineapples back where they belong.

Will the line painting team be doing other line work as well as the junction mentioned above? The Canberra Crescent/Littlemoor Road junction (by the new flats near the recycling bins in the car park) need lines painting- as does the junction of the old Littlemoor Road nearest Chelwood Close to indicate who has to give way to whom?
I would have thought that line painting would be a priority- any accidents that occur do to confusion could be considered the responsibility of the council?

Are they going to mark the central lane of Littlemoor Rd at the junction with Louviers Rd (the shops end)? I believe it the central lane requires arrows giving priority to vehicles turning right into Louviers Rd. because as it stands there is potential for a head on collision.
Just one scenario: vehicle travelling towards roundabouts from Preston. Driver of vehicle sees vehicle ahead slowing down to turn left into Louviers and decides to use middle lane to overtake. Meanwhile another vehicle following other traffic is approaching from the opposite direction and, despite having a poor view ahead because of the bend and the traffic in front, moves into the same centre lane to turn right into Louviers. As there is a bend involved the two drivers may not see each other until it is too late!

Hi Paul. The line-painting team are due in next Tuesday and Wednesday (8 and 9 November) to mark up the right-turn lanes with arrows and hatching.

You might think you have finished, but has it been signed off? I mean have you seen the state that you have left some parts of the old littlemoor road in? (particularly by the teachers entrance to bincome valley school?
There is a HUGE pothole there just after you stopped your resurfacing, and it’s been poorly patched up.

Hi Mark,
It is intended to undertake some patching works of the old Littlemoor Road – these however are not part of the contract with Skanska and relate to general road maintenance.
