Dorchester Road temporary lights

October 20, 2011

From Tuesday 25 October there will be temporary traffic lights on Dorchester Road just to the south of Manor Roundabout.

The lights will be in place for around five days, although we hope to complete the works sooner.

Where possible, the traffic lights will be removed at the end of each shift.

There will be a signed advisory diversion route along Mercery Road during the works.

Work is being carried out to realign the kerbs from the side road to improve the turning movement for vehicles exiting the cul-de-sac and to complete the pedestrian island.

Littlemoor Road update

September 20, 2011

The works along Littlemoor Road have been progressing well. Works of this nature are always fiddly and complex as you have to maintain access and tie into the existing layout.

A substantial amount of kerbing and surfacing has been completed. In addition, drainage and ducting for electric supplies to lighting and signing has been put in.

Works still to be complete include:

  • The link to Louviers Road (east), which is currently being carried out under temporary traffic lights
  • The link to Canberra Crescent
  • The remaining sections of footway/cycleway
  • Tidying up the completed links to accesses and side roads

The works are due to be completed towards the middle of October, although there will be some remedial works to complete in the following months.

Bincombe junction bus services

September 8, 2011

After completion of the minor works to Bincombe junction, we have now had further discussions with the bus companies.

First Group have confirmed that from Monday 12 September their services will use Bincombe junction and they will monitor it over the coming months.

  • Service 10 will use the old Dorchester Road and Bincombe junction
  • Service 31 will use the old Dorchester Road and Bincombe junction in the evenings

For operational reasons, South West Coaches will not be using Bincombe junction.

  • Service 210 will continue to use the Weymouth Relief Road

Wilts and Dorset have not yet come to a decision on whether Service 183 will use Bincombe junction.

The Dorchester Road shuttle service will finish on Saturday 10 September after the last timetabled service (7pm).

Subway artwork

Weymouth College art students have been busy creating a unique mural for the new relief road subway at Manor Roundabout.

Split into two teams of 12, each individual designed their own section of the mural within the theme the team had decided upon.

Engineers working on the relief road project have organised for the artwork to be installed.
