Beams up

Chapel Lane beams 22 February (large version)

It’s been a busy week at Chapel Lane, with the beams for the Chapel Lane bridge being lifted into place.

Because of its long span – the longest of all the relief road bridges – the gap is bridged by joining two steel beams together.

In this picture you can see the temporary trestle structures supporting the beams while they are fixed into place.
