Park and ride site July 2010 (large version)Earthworks for roundabout and road, Lodmoor (large version)

The park and ride car park at Lodmoor is starting to take shape – on the left you can see the bund (earth wall) around the park and ride site and membrane that covers the old landfill site.

The view on the right-hand photo is of the earthworks that will form the road from the park and ride to the new Manor railway bridge, in the foreground you can just make out the start of the park and ride roundabout.

  1. Mark Says:

Will the Park & Ride be open before the “6 weeks of hell” start? If not, why not. Surely resource could have been reallocated to finish this part of the project for THIS year, what with all the roadworks going on elsewhere in Weymouth…

Or is this another missed opportunity by our local council planners?

    • Weymouth Relief Road Says:

      Hi Mark,

The park and ride will be open in spring next year, when the relief road scheme is finished.

The park and ride can’t be completed in advance of the main relief road works for a number of reasons, one of which is that some material currently being used elsewhere on the scheme is to be reused in the park and ride construction.

We can see the logic in your thoughts, however this is not a missed opportunity because of the way the construction programme works.
