The cycleway can’t be fully open until two further sections are finished.
The first is the section near Winterbourne Monkton where we have to build a retaining structure, as there is not enough room for the cycleway on the road verge, and the verge is at the top of a very steep bank.
The second is the cycleway connection onto the Ridgeway bridge and the bridge itself, which provides the road crossing for the cycleway.
The western approach to the Ridgeway bridge can’t be completed until the relief road is completed and traffic is diverted onto the new road, because the bridge approach is on top of the current line of the A354.
