Photographs were taken of the meeting on the Ridgeway. Do you know where / when these will be published?

    Thanks for the prompt reply.
I think you are being a little optimistic if you are thinking that a bit of vegetation will make this section of road safe, especially with the winter coming on. There is a lot of feeling that this length of road is not safe to ride as it is at the moment. A lot of the debris comes from the middle section of the road that has been dug up, for some reason. It’s also not clear which track cyclists should be using – part of the road has been designated to farm vehicles but there is no signage to indicate the cycleway.

Totally agree with you David. The cycle path is mostly great – although it does have a few problems. The section between the new junction and the top of the hill is awful. The white lines have been burned off the road and makes the surface very bad. The other day I hit a huge stone on the path and it nearly threw me off the bike. I can’t believe after all the money spent this section cannot be re-surfaced. The problem is in this country that cycle paths are designed by NON-CYCLISTS. They are not suitable a lot of the time.

Many thanks to the organisers of the cycle ride on Sunday. It was a most enjoyable event despite the less than perfect weather.
It must be said that the cycleways in general are excellent and a great benefit to the many cyclists in the area. However, the state of the surface from the ‘new’ junction North over the old Dorchester Rd does leave cause for concern. Yesterday, when the surface was wet and covered in debris, stones, mud, etc it was quite hazardous coming down the hill. Can you please confirm that this section will be receiving a decent top surface and if so, when, please.
    Many thanks again.

      Hi David

Thank you for you positive comments.

It was unfortunate that it rained hard on Saturday morning and washed stones and silt onto the road. Unfortunately, until the sides of the cycleway are vegetated this may continue to be a problem.

We are still carrying out some works on the verges to try and deal with this issue. Once the sides of the cycleway are vegetated this will help to reduce materials washing onto the cycleway in heavy rain.

The Ridgeway cycleway surface will remain as it is.

Again, thank you for your comments. Once all the works are complete in this area I hope you will see an improvement.
