Roundabout lining works

March 22, 2012

Work will be taking place on Saturday (24/3) and Sunday (25/3) to put in additional road markings at Veasta and Manor Roundabout.

The additional markings that will be put in place will provide further directional arrows and marking out the circulating carriageway around the roundabouts, shown on the plan above.

Work will start at around 5am on both Saturday and Sunday and will continue until around midday on both days.

During the works Stop and Go boards will be in operation to control traffic. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause. (more…)

Dorchester Road temporary lights

October 20, 2011

From Tuesday 25 October there will be temporary traffic lights on Dorchester Road just to the south of Manor Roundabout.

The lights will be in place for around five days, although we hope to complete the works sooner.

Where possible, the traffic lights will be removed at the end of each shift.

There will be a signed advisory diversion route along Mercery Road during the works.

Work is being carried out to realign the kerbs from the side road to improve the turning movement for vehicles exiting the cul-de-sac and to complete the pedestrian island.

New road markings at southern roundabouts (large version)

This morning, cones were in place at Veasta Roundabout and on the approach to Manor Roundabout so that additional road markings could be laid.

Some lane markings were always intended but it was felt best to monitor the situation first to ensure they met the requirements of drivers.

Thanks to all those who got in touch about their experiences at these roundabouts.

Dorset Highways is continuing to monitor the new road and will judge whether any additional measures are needed, including reviewing other road markings throughout the scheme.

White line removal

February 1, 2011

Weymouth Way road markings near Manor Roundabout are being removed this week.

Between 9.30am and 3.30pm stop/go boards will be used while small machines shot blast the old markings off the road.

The work is programmed for Wednesday and Thursday, but may only take one day.

The nature of the work means there will be some disruption but this will hopefully be kept to a minimum by the traffic management in place.

January work

January 6, 2011

Throughout January work will continue on finishing the roundabouts, final surfacing of the southern section of the road and white lining.

The road signs will also start to go up on the southern section between Littlemoor and Manor Roundabout.

Work is also ongoing on the park and ride, which will be open in the spring.

Unfortunately the extreme cold weather in December has delayed work and the main carriageway of the road is now scheduled to open in February.

Manor Roundabout (large version)

Manor Roundabout has been planted, now that the hottest months are behind us, and some of the final landscaping works have been completed on the rest of the scheme.

This month a lot of the embankments throughout the scheme have been seeded, and the remainder will also soon be seeded, along with the road verges.

Most of the plants for the scheme will be put in during November, December and January.

Footpath work near Morrison's (large version)

Following the clearance work at Manor Roundabout near Morrison’s, work has started on improving the footpath in the area.

The pavement is being widened to provide good access to the new Manor subway that has been built as part of the relief road. The slope of the footpath down to the subway will also be suitable for mobility scooters.

The new subway is underneath the relief road Manor Roundabout spur and links up with the footpath/cycleway from Manor Roundabout to Lorton Lane and Littlemoor, and with the Two Mile Coppice bridleway.

Manor Roundabout

March 25, 2010

Traffic management at Manor Roundabout will be in place until next Wednesday evening.

Traffic lights with single lane traffic are in place at the moment to ensure the safety of the workforce and the general public. The lights are being operated manually during peak times to try and balance traffic flows through this very busy  intersection.

The traffic lights will be taken off on Sunday evening, when vehicles will be directed onto single running lanes through the new roundabout.

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings next week, final surfacing works on the roundabout will be completed under Stop/Go boards from 6pm until 1am.

On the A354 between Stadium Roundabout in Dorchester and the top of Ridgeway Hill, traffic lights will continue to be used during March and April for the cycleway construction.
